A few years ago I was invited on a trip to visit “John of God” (Joao Teixeira de Faria) . The apparent spiritual surgical noninvasive healings he performed intrigued me. Oprah visited him, witnessed him perform “psychic surgery” at his clinic. Dr. Wayne Dyer received work and healing through the his distant healing procedure which contributed to his recovery from leukemia. I believe New York Times bestseller Dr. Lissa Rankin MD visited him for her book The Anatomy Of A Calling.
The videos on YouTube further intrigued me. I researched flights and found an affordable round trip options.
However my intuition told me not to go.
Not because I don’t believe in these types of healings, they seem to have healed many of the most difficult of conditions, but there was something about “John Of God” that told me to stay away.
As much as I wanted to visit Brazil, which would have been something like my 25th country visited, and experience his healings in person, my Great Gut told me to stay home and look elsewhere for healing.
I highly doubt I would have been subject to his apparent abuse(his loss, obv.) , it’s sad to see leaders of influence abuse anyone.
(Ref BBC report “Brazil ‘faith healer’ John of God surrenders to police“)
If true, his dirty conscious, and energy channels not only traumatized the hundreds of woman who have stepped forward, but limited the healing possible to the likely millions who have seen him over the past few decades.
My God doesn’t approve of this type of human induced trauma.
Following *your* Great Gut in who you consult with is more important than ever as we seek out help with our health concerns.
It’s stories like this that make me rethink if I want to continue what I’m doing, for fear of being accused. Then I remember that I’d never do anything remotely like this, so I have nothing to be afraid of. #ConsentIsEverything
